IMPAKT – a project created under the Erasmus Mundus programme, funded by the European Commission, dedicated to developing relations between Europe and Asia through mobility between these regions. Its aim was to promote European higher education, broaden students’ career prospects, and facilitate intercultural understanding with third-world countries, thus contributing to the sustainable development of higher education in these countries.
Action 2 of the Erasmus Mundus programme aimed to build university partnerships, transformed into consortia composed of European universities and higher education institutions in third-world countries, and to organize the mobility of students and staff between Europe and third-world countries on scholarships lasting from three months to three years.
Grants, including monthly allowances, travel costs, insurance, and tuition fees, could be awarded to students from undergraduate to post-doctoral studies, as well as to research and administrative staff, to enhance their skills and share knowledge.
IMPAKT was selected by the European Commission for the period 2014-2018. The University of Rouen coordinated a consortium of 20 higher education institutions, including 8 European, 12 Asian, and 11 associated partners. Seventeen countries participated in the programme. IMPAKT focused primarily on economics, education, natural sciences, law, management, and planning.
